No turning back now

Posted in Group:

Well my husband and I have a plan for him to finish this enlistment where he is currently stationed, which is Japan. I am ment to fallow him and live with him there because us being apart is just too stressful and hard on both of us. Well the other day he finally signed the papers to finalize it all. Im not having any second thoughts our anything, Its just that now that I know there isnt any going back the realization of how permanent it all is kinda scary. Especially since we are both so young (both just turned 20). It would be nice to have at least someone to know what im going through right now. Ive always had family in the military from all branches, right now there is five. And no one has ever done anything like I am about to do. No one has ever fallowed their husband across seas, they've always just waited for them. But Im going to be different, Im not just going to be supportive of what he does. Im going to go through it with him, I wont let him go through this alone. Even if I have to leave everything behind.

Nothing is permanent in this life. It is very commendable of you to accompany your husband and, also this is the opportunity to see another country. If you will have difficulties, you can always come home for few months. Just try to think about this trip like an adventure. Wishing you the best. God bless you.

yes it will be difficult but i've been to japan for my husband and its an amazing place and the people on and off base are very nice. It is a wonderful opportunity and its really not permenant its just a few years and i know that sounds like a long time but with friends and your husband time will go by quickly, there will be longs days and weeks however when you look back at the time it seems like it just flew by.

Atta Girl!!! I felt the same way with my husband. He has gotten some pr.etty crummy stations~ and even told me I could go home! I felt like it didn't matter where we were...as long as we were together! I told him the day I married him I'd follow him to the ends of the Earth. I have twice.... LOL

Don't sweat the small stuff....It is all small stuff! Just stay focused...and keep enough money that you can get home in a hurry, just in case.
This will be a great adventure for you. ENJOY IT! (One serious perk of military living)

The only advice that I can give is to give it your all. I made a huge mistake by isolating myself, and not trying very hard to make friends when I moved with my husband to his station. If they have a military wives group over there, get involved! Make new friends, and keep in touch with the one back home too.
