Last week I was AMCROSS'd off my ship, we were two months into deployment when my son, who is emotionally unstable, decided to run away by climbing out his bedroom window and jumping off the roof. He broke both arms, he doesn't understand why this is so bad. He is 14 and has the mind of a 6 year old. He is now being transferred out of state to a facility in Nevada for short term evaluation and treatment. He have two other children who are directly affected, they see his actions and are just as confused as we are.

I desperately need someone to talk to, I'm angry and confused about my feelings with all of this. He is emotionally dependent on others to feed his addiction of attention. As an active duty military member and a mother, I am torn emotionally between caring for a child who doesn't care about himself or those around him and completing my service contract. We can't afford his medical bills without the military (we have racked up an ungodly amount of medical bills that have been paid in full by the military). I also see myself not making rank because of all the special circumstances that this child has put me in. I can't deploy, I can't do special duty, I am limited to the duty stations I can go to and I can't stand out.

I completely understand that family comes first, but no one joins the military to be the 'special case'.

It is not easy to be a mother, our heart is divided into many pieces. You are doing your best under the circumstances. When you start to worry, say a prayer and leave the things that are out of your reach in God's hands. I know of a lady that lost her husband and was left with two little girls, by herself, in New York. Every time, when she left to work, she would ask Virgin Mary,Mother of Jesus, please take care and watch over my girls. Please, pray for your children, for their health and well being, the mother's prayer is very powerful. Wishing you health and happiness. God bless you.
